virgil thought he was a poet
and he tried his very best
but all his verse were bad, then worse
and left him so ... um.....sad
he would never make a living
for his poems would never rhyme
its all for naught, he sadly thought
i'll never make a....um...nickel
he never like surrendering
but now he felt defeat
so that poor slob took on a job
at a restaurant down the...um....road
he greeted his first customer
his mind still full of doubt
but when he spoke, the tension broke
and this is what came....um...forth
you'll want a drink, or so i think
a burger and some fries
reflect on the selection
of our famous cakes and pies
this venue has some menu
we have bacon, eggs and ham
a plate of mashed potatoes
or a sizzling rack of lamb
you might go for a taco
or some corn fresh on the cob
if you feel interactive
for our lobsters you may bob
you bet, we have spaghetti
and our tuna's a delight
egg salads, served with ballads
for our waiters sing at night
and when he mentioned singing
he had realized what he'd done
the verse just flowed on overload
he left there on the run
he hoped his boss would not be cross
or maybe have a cow
he went on home to write some poems
he had that power now
