WHEN I COULD STAND NO MORE

i traveled northward many miles
but romance soon went south
soon i won't see your lying eyes
or kiss your twisted mouth
.
i'm going back where i belong
and i shall roam no more
i fell in love
but i arose
when i could stand no more
.
i gave up everything i had
my world turned upside down
i thought i was your lover
but you changed me to a clown
.
it was a game i couldn't win
i never knew the score
i fell in love
but i arose
when i could stand no more
.
i shivered from the cold
while in the warmth of your embrace
the veil that masked the truth
had finally fallen from your face
.
at last i'll find some peace of mind
for i have won the war
i fell in love
but i arose
when i could stand no more

Hi there, good to see you back again. I never know with any writer how much of what is posted here is 'real life'...'It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all' - Alfred Lord Tennyson, from In Memoriam Elsie
