i'd ask, "who dealt this mess"
when i let the deal go down
i left my mind at home
while my body went to town
.
i was the star that shone
while the sun was in eclipse
odds and ends
who could have penned
a better script ?
 
i finally met myself
even gave myself a hug
not like the former days
when i gave myself a slug
.
i'm now a peaceful sea
with no flurries in my drift
my knee bends
who could have penned
a better script ?
.
i've grown to like myself
slow to fully understand
not just acquired the taste
i've become my favorite brand
.
now i'm the king at last
when the other cards were flipped
paths to wend
who could have penned
a better script ?
