It's been a while, since I've seen your face or even your smile.
You were wiped from this planet called earth
And your parents are reminded of your birth
Just 18 years old, so much to live for
So much to be told
Cancer, it's a nasty living thing
You told me your be fine, "don't worry babe it's just a blip"
Everyday I'm reminded of your last words, you told me you love me and it just hurts.
I never replied, I slowly cried as I heard your dad waving me goodbye.
"Kate, he's got to go. He is holding his breath and he won't say no"
We're talk soon he said, that's the last I heard and now a year has gone by and not a word.
Your funeral was nice, you had your single yellow rose.
Lanterns were lit and tears ran down my nose.
You didn't become that zoo keeper, you didn't watch that arsenal game,
you didn't hear them words back from my mouth, but that's only me to blame.
Everyday I'm reminded, why an innocent man was taken.
I didn't get to explain my feelings
And I feel that I have been mistaken.

Such heartfelt writing born

Such heartfelt writing born from so much sadness in a young life. Yet some beautiful work is emerging. Writing can be a healing process. Well done Katie.

People often understand how
People often understand how we feel even before we know it ourselves, and can also draw comfort and great meaning from our silence. I'm sure he knew.
Very honest writing, here - keep it coming.

Hello Kate,
Hello Kate,
Like LInda I think your writing is really coming on. You are showing a maturity beyond your years, probably because of the hard knocks you have experienced.
