Gone.

Why do we let ourselves to get like this? Why can’t we accept that this is what happens? Things end. Everything ends. You will never be good enough. You will never be her. You watch as the love that was once so magical, so special, so different, disappear. Slowly, it floats above your head just out of reach; a teasing fairy dangling a diamond necklace which sparkles when the sun hits it, intriguing and unusual.
The world and time stand next to each other, still, frozen. It is like sand seeping through your fingers, you try desperately to catch the tiny grains, but you can’t, it all falls to the floor and you are left with open empty palms. That one person, the one you held in the middle of the night, the one you lay with on the grass watching the clouds, the one whose hand you held tight as you told them all your secrets. The one you said forever too. They erode, like candyfloss in the rain, once so sweet. Gone
Gone.
Don’t ever go there again.
The desk draw rattled as Josh continued to kick at the handle; pencils moving around the draws, knocking into each other, fighting to win their meaningless battles. He kicked the desk harder and placed his hands over his ears and shut his eyes. Feeling the sting within his nose as a rush of emotion drowned his sinuses, his eyes quickly watered with great speed, almost catching him off guard. Shallow breaths followed; a groan from deep inside his lungs escaped, quite like that of a tortured cat. Standing up suddenly and wiping his face, he pulled a photo from his wallet and using a cheap lighter from the nearby off licence, lit the corner. Josh shrieked and yelped, doing a little dance he leapt around his room, waving the burning photograph around. Black ash lifted the image off the paper and hovered in the air, the last remains of any love for the girl in the photo vanished and just as the fire reached the opposite corner, he dropped it to the floor and spat a long streak of saliva to put it out.
