On the corner
of Melrose and Sunset Boulevard,
Paskin's heart stands
in yellow letters,
Font: Western. Size: Infinity. Capital. Bold.
Because he found no other way
than "Wife Wanted"
to tell the world
that he was sick and tired
of being alone,
that there was nothing wrong with him -
incomplete yet complete,
with his nice looks
financial security
and a desire to travel the world.
Paskin's heart stands
above buildings and cars,
beneath traffic lights
that control the flow of eyes
past his achingly loud desperation
in this need for the smile
that looks up at billboards
in search of something special -
a sign -
that tells her,
Today Will Be Different.
