Animals

Have you ever looked at animals, and thought about them,
I mean really thought?
There is so much variety
In size, shape, colour, even functionality,
It is amazing.
All birds and snakes look alike, right?
Wrong.
The patterns of feathers, of scales,are as individual,
As different as the sounds of frogs.
Think about amphibians;
Animals that are as home on land as in water,
Including one that gives birth through her mouth;
What about insects,
From ones which can see all around,
To ones which can walk on water,
To ones which would survive a nuclear holocaust.
So, back to water, for instance, sharks,
The 'cookiecutter' is less than a foot long,
Yet is still too big to be eaten by the whale shark,
An eating machine which only eats tiny creatures,
By the tonne.
And why are there air breathing mammals
That can only survive in the deepest oceans?
I don't know.
Like I don't know how symbiosis works,
How does one bird know it is safe in a crocodile's mouth,
Or why would an insect live inside a cactus?
All of these,
And the duck-billed platypus
Go to show that God is brilliantly creative-
I don't see how anyone could look at these, and think,
And not believe.
