I Remember

I remember a lot about him. I remember his dark skin, melting onto me like dark chocolate. He left a stain on my teeth and a bitter taste in my mouth. I remember his large hands that suffocated me til my throat turned to ash and my eyes could see stars. I remember his innocent smile, crooked and gap-toothed. He pulled me in with his electric current that ignited sparks in my heart but left bruises on my skin. I remember the sounds of the words he spit in my eyes that burned holes like acid. I remember the god that never came when I begged and screamed and prayed for divine intervention. I remember the sirens and the bright lights. I remember the stream of blood that blossomed out of me like a rose, and I remember the faces contrived with concern. The one thing I can’t seem to remember is why I loved him so.

Dark and powerful. Moments
Dark and powerful. Moments of almost bittersweet. A lot of punch packed in a paragraph.

Tremendous piece of flash
Tremendous piece of flash fiction - well, I hope it's fiction. A real jolt to read, in a very good way. Powerful and controlled.
