The scientist took off his labcoat,
Struggling into his rusted chinos,
And his assistant in the Unit
Sipping a cappuccino by his side
Glanced at the burning test-tubes
And Leyden jars melting in the
Bulging heat of the furnace maw.
Throwing in too the evidence of
Notes, ‘Colourless green ideas sleep
Furiously,” he spits fervently
Referring of course to the trials gone wrong.
And bundling his labcoat and cursing his bosses
In that went and the coffee-cup too.
