I Live in a City

I live in a city
I breathe-in its fumes
It is not so much a choice
As a concession to my life here
You love another
And so deep and so true
It is not so much a choice
As a necessity
We stay friends.
That you insist on this
Is part and parcel
Of why your star is blessed
I live in a city
I breathe-in its fumes
It is no choice of mine.
The pollution is not choking.
