A parchment map sinks
in the bath, Mary dear.
And loses elasticity theron.
The ink flows in bubbles
that slide and dissolve,
our homeland washed and then gone.
A charter for life has the same
sorry fate
when communities fail to adhere.
Your mother fought hard
for the life that you've had.
Yet the Lethe
has washed her words clear.
Stand up to the man who
delights in your fear,
Stand up and be counted, my dear.
Your neighbours are charcoal burners
With blind faith in God
Stand up and fight that fat sod.
