Yellow Dress

That crocheted yellow mini dress
She made it herself on the nights they sat
Side by side on the new suite.
She could cook - that's for sure.
Her lovecraft in chops with minted potatoes
How she strained the peas
And he watched the black and white.
Didn't they have everything to be grateful for
Their son sleeping in his tidy room
That brand new scooter
Paint as red as happiness.
And she was pretty
And he was handsome.
She crocheted yellowness into a brand new dress
And he would admire her legs.
They were fine legs.
And she in a broad brimmed hat
Would watch from the boundary
As he fast bowled.
And their son rode the scooter up and down
Nobody heard the squeak squeak of the wheels
Was a warning.
