I deleted a poem
Thoughts held for a while
on life-support
against Nature's laws
It clung to life
deformed, ugly
Never should have been
I read it with pity
Felt shame
It never saw paper
Never brought a smile
Only embarrassment
So I killed it
Given a chance to reconsider
I clicked OK
and pulled the trigger
Murdered my own feelings
In cold blood
But no.
The crime is to perpetuate
a passing thought
Recreate a feeling, emotion
When you mess with Nature
expect deformity
aberration and shame
Let it die
Don't force air
into malformed lungs
Don't cause a heart
to beat
that never ought
Save everyone the embarrassment

Most thought provoking and oddly touching. Our writings are like our offspring. You worry over them, then prepare them the best you can to be launched into the world. It takes courage to kill a rogue one.
