I glimpsed blue sky
this morning
through the parted clouds
There was no warmth
It was the colour
of tempered steel
Hardened
Quenched in oil and water
Ground
Sharpened and ready to cut

I looked at the blue peeping through the clouds this morning and thought it looked cold, too. Your description is perfect for September. 'Ground sharpened ready to cut' - loved that.

Hope the Lemsip is doing its job, PT. Mind you, your cold doesn't seem to have affected your writing skills. Wonderfully atmospheric; your choice of vocabulary spot on, as is vital in a short, and to the point piece, such as this.
Much enjoyed, and I hope you're soon feeling much better;-)
