Tangled up in blue ride 2

Lying on a high grass bank
above the Wye
Tintern standing tall behind the trees
Empty windows framing sky
Between the showers
sun lights up late summer flowers
Visitors stop by
and watch the monks load provisions down below
I smile at Larkin’s observations
Families by the sea
The scene I left an hour ago
Somewhere out of earshot
the bike is resting on its stand
The engine ticks
Changing books
Kerouac finds beauty
in the squalor of Redondas
I treasure this moment by the Wye
basking in the sun
It’s time to leave for Monmouth
By the way
the monks were just for fun
