Getting personal

Waiting has darkened the brilliance
that slipped into a crevasse.
I do not have time for the ice
to grind its route, open its face.
But now its transient blue
is where refractions end
and burning cold stops the blood.
This is getting personal; it always does.
I sent it on its way, once,
now I watch from a window;
the cherry petals catch a whim,
land on the coat of a grey-nosed dog
and the greying man dragging its lead.
For that I will suffer against the moving sky,
frame by frame through the square of glass,
caught looking unoccupied
in the drifting time, in the drifting time.

'land on the coat of the grey
'land on the coat of the grey-nosed dog

This is a beautiful observation. I love that your poetry evokes thought, leaves me pondering.

Is this for poetry monthly
Is this for poetry monthly Pat? It's a framing theme this month. A gorgeous piece and daring to hold back the seasons wreaks punishment. Some startling imagery - majestic - and all contained behind that window. Just fix your title - little typo.

Glad you sorted the title,
Glad you sorted the title, beautiful chill images, the cherry blossom on the grey dog is so unexpected and a lovely flash of colour - caught looking and not doing, felt a shiver of guilt.
