Bluebell wood
A bluebell mass is such a sight,
in May, it sets the wood alight,
cov’ring the ground, the forest floor,
with vivid blue, can’t ask for more.
Dappled sunshine cuts through the trees,
the bluebells shimmer in the breeze,
the brilliant blue just hits the eye
of any person passing by.
“Oh bluebell mass, you’re such a sight.
In May you set the wood alight.”
I spoke these words with so much joy,
when I was just a little boy.
I saw the dappled sunshine rays
through the trees, creating haze.
It stuck with me all these years,
and now it fills my eyes with tears.
A bluebell mass is such a sight,
in May, it sets the wood alight,
cov’ring the ground, the forest floor,
with vivid blue, who’d ask for more?
