There are no such things as Unicorns

The mist is our world
For only in mist
Can we run unseen
We do not exist
At least not to those who seek us
So it is between the light and the mist
That we live
For a unicorn is magic
And magic is fleeting
Falling where it may
But not haphazardly
Discerningly
Like waking dreams
On a wind swept moor
Heavy with morning dew
And thick with fog
There you may catch a glimpse
Of a horned horse running wild
And your world will sparkle
Suspended in disbelief
Did you just see a Unicorn?
"Preposterous," you say
As you shake you head
And walk away

Lovely response to the IP.
Lovely response to the IP. Have you ever seen the film 'The Last Unicorn'? My children adored it when they were small - in fact both have their own copies now because they wore out our old videotape! This reminded me of that - the fleeting magic that sometimes we persuade ourselves isn't there.

Hi JoAnne.
Hi JoAnne.
This lovely poem of yours has made me thinking. Since the fifth century BCE mentions have been made of the existence of a horse with one horn. Unless this animal was confused with the rhino, it is not beyond the realm of possibilities that in the distant past unicorns were on this earth and disappeared like the dinosaurs did or evolved by losing that appendage. Even though there is no evidence that this happened it is an interesting speculation.
Thanks for the read.
Best wishes, Luigi x

Lovely poem Penny. A reminder
Lovely poem Penny. A reminder of this beautiful creature and the inspiring nature all around, all we have to do is believe that just because we can't see something, doesn't mean it does not exist.
