"I'm disappointed," said the antelope.
"But consider this," said the gall wasp; "if you didn't have disappointments, how would you learn to overcome those disappointments?"
"If I didn't have disappointments, there would be no disappointments to overcome!" said the antelope.
"But life is full of disappointments," said the gall wasp.
"But what if it wasn't?" said the antelope.
"But it is," said the gall wasp.
"But what if it wasn't?" said the antelope.
The gall wasp put his little waspy hand on his little waspy chin and looked at the antelope.
"Consider this," said the gall wasp; "disappointments come and disappointments go. We have no control over this. Such is life. Do we abide and ride the waves of the Sea of Disappointment or do we stubbornly tread water, complain and wish that we could part those waves?"
"That's a rather contrived metaphor," said the antelope.
"But the point remains," said the gall wasp.
"What point?" said the antelope.
"That if we tread water, we will eventually drown!" said the gall wasp.
"I don't know how to surf," said the antelope.
"You will learn," said the gall wasp.
"I mean literally," said the antelope.
"Oh."
