Fate

Staring at the city lights though my window pane as I write this song,
Hydrated from the deprivation of love, man it has been way too long
Struggling to write on straight lines or find cohesion in my rhymes,
If only I had a woman by my side would there be better times,
The grand clock chimes at midnight for me to go to sleep,
But I don’t knock out until five because my mind is thinking too deep
Clouds of dreams try to infiltrate my unconscious brain,
Suddenly I wake up sweating all over like I’ve been sleeping in rain.
I walk down the stairs, through the kitchen towards the fridge to get a drink,
Sip a glass of wine and realise an overflowing kitchen sink,
I turn off the tap, and observe the red liquid drowning down the drain,
As I make way up to bed, I cannot believe what I can see.
A beautiful woman reading my raps whilst sitting on my studio seat,
Her dark hair and sparkling eyes makes me rub my own,
After blinking a few times and rubbing my eyes she is still there,
Just reading my words off the paper whilst in my chair.
I ask her “who are you and what are you doing in my home?”
She just gives off a cute laugh and gets back in her zone,
Within seconds she replies “I am your angel sent from above”
“God sent me when he heard your prays of wanting love”
She stands up off the chair and starts to walk away,
“Wait!”
She replies “open the gate before it’s too late”
Bewildered I question what she means,
“What gate, what was in the sink?”
She just says “your gate, it was my blood”
Struggling for words, I just try to think,
She screams and I open my eyes,
Only to find that I’m still in bed but I can hear her cries
I get out of bed and head down the stairs,
I can feel the darkness around me as it stares
I open the front door and rush through the gate,
There lying on the road is the woman of my dreams,
Gasping for air and covered in blood,
Thank God I was not late .
