Me and me

The warmth was already overbearing so early in the morning. The sun had scarcely made its climb across the sky and yet I was already breaking into a sweat. I rushed up the stairway and onto the platform and was expecting to be confronted with the same crowd of nondescript yet familiar faces as they waited for the train to arrive. To my astonishment that same crowd were huddled at the far end by the side of the track, looking over the edge. There were splashes of what looked like diluted dark red paint all over the side of the platform. This was certainly blood, no doubts about it, and my first impressions were not good. I gradually made my way through the crowd, which quite surprisingly ignored my shoving as I carelessly nudged my way through to the front to get a close up of the unfortunate incident. When I got near enough, my heart sank and my stomach turned. There, in front of me, lying awkwardly was me.
I looked back at the onlookers with tears in my eyes, but everyone else looked straight through me at me!
