Bondage and Cocoon
P K Routray
Silk worms out of saliva of their own,
make the cocoons, their wonderful creation,
for their natural protection
which if they want, they can cut open
but attachment imprisons them for life even with this option,
from time immemorial it continues to happen.
The greedy man mercilessly boils the cocoons
for silk threads for his clothes to be put on
The worm then meets its tomb,
the attachment becomes the cause or this doom.
The man also meets a similar fate,
in his own illusory attachment’s. net.
He never comes out of its pangs and pains,
and surrenders meekly to his own cocoons’ reigns.
Both men and silk worms continue to suffer
even though one is intelligent and the other is inferior.
Cocoon’s attachment fails to teach any lesson
Both continue to meet their ends in similar fashion.
