Divinely Blessed Kabita
As a true votary of Hinduism, forever
its womenfolk nourish and nurture
in heart of their hearts a fervent wish
that what Kabita could accomplish,
that no amount of property, propitiation, and power
nor acumen in any arena, in any form, can acquire.
Her vermilion remains indelible and ablaze
her bangles remain indestructible and glaze
she breathed her last on her spouse’s shoulder.
accomplished she everything in life, prayed for
her love as husband and prosperous son and daughter
to the end of it, her lovely little grandkids could nurse her
and a host of kith and kin, a multitude of friends around
whose love to her, her heavenward soul could have found.
From inside the preserver, she looked serene.
Age and disease as if in her could not dentin.
Her endurance story, the sighs around could tell
Her love affection and handling had a wonder tale
as a daughter-in-law, a better-half and a mother
as a mother-in-law, a grandma and as a sweet to a neighbor
to hobby’s’ frenzied friend circle and to their family
speak of her sixty-five odd years' mortal glory.
Void of tears in an ocean of tears was Kamala, her consort
apprehensive of his future dreaming the past now lost.
All melancholic tunes of all greats must be jumbling his heart
but looked he cool and composed as if him she did not part.
They were knotted from heaven for many a birth
Kamala as a young boy wanted Kabita as she arrived on the earth
to play with her and partnering with her in the entire life
from sand house to concrete house through thick and thin and strife.
Their struggle shoulder to shoulder to enjoy and exist
their last visit to London with full family was the peak of the list.
Not to lessen the joy of the family Kabita kept her mouth shut
“No” she must be lost in the bliss of this life as her last mortal resort.
Hey Kamala! Do not lament to impede her heavenward journey
She is special, you were lucky; Lord has singled her out from many.
“Hey, dear kith and kin! Decorate her from toe to head as she will go to the altar
vermilion on forehead new cloth wear, red Alata on feet without any error.”
“Hey Drumbeaters please tune your special beat
reserved for an Ahisulakkshani on her mortal exit
in front of her husband with applause from Heaven
as for all worlds, all come out to see it, being a rare occasion.”
Hindu scripture recognizes her divinity in mortal frame
“Hey Lord! We pray and are sure you will oblige her claim.”.
Hey Kabita! We all mortal man with bent knee bow at you
respect to Ahisulakshani that our scriptures teach us too.
At an advanced age, you could bring out your hubby’s talent
perhaps to help him to survive without you with lessened lament.
Your grandkids unaware of the laws of creation
sobs on the elders’ shoulder hugging unknown
No Kabita! They represent our mourning hearts at this moment
Bye-bye to you, for peace and bliss to your soul to Lord with prayers ardent.
