The Experience
P K Routray
My friend Mr Prahlda Gaan
a heart by-pass surgery just he has undergone
with pre-stenting and post operative complication.
I felt the eco of the turmoil in his emotion.
To delineate the intensity of burden on his heart
limping within the dilemma whether to stay or to depart
I had no word, no courage and no art to express
thus I appealed him to pen himself his feelings now fresh.
On my request he himself has expressed his own feeling
while lying on hospital bed just after his heart stopped bleeding.
I dare to share thus his harrowing experiences as he could send
with my gratitude to all who helped in his recovery and prayed for my friend.

Bypass Surgery , The horrendous Experience
P Gaan
Three years after angioplasty
the two stents choked blocking blood flow to my heart,
neither could I walk nor sleep
breathing became difficult.
A kink in ECG prompted for check angio
two more additional blocks
added to my woe.
The cardiac surgeon at once suggested
an open heart bypass surgery which I dreaded.
There being no other option consented with hesitation
was admitted into Apollo hospital waited for the operation.
Butchering of the goat by TAZU Mian flashed before my eyes
perceived red and red every where though blue were the skies.
At last came the fateful day I was taken to OT
What the surgeon and anaesthetist did could not know a bit.
When gained consciousness found myself in ICU
the doctor came and whispered Mr. Gaan operation OK, so are you.
Later on learnt four bypasses were necessary
some complications arose midway, to OT I was taken second time.
In ICU faced I hallucinations past happenings appeared distorted
half awake half asleep sophisticated medical gadgets connected.
A plus blood my colleagues provided who poured in large number
shall remain ever grateful till my day of last slumber.
Shifted to ward, attended sisters, doctors visited to enquire and advise
One day stitches were opened, a shy of relief mixed with surprise.
Soon got discharged, came back home, thought over were trials and tribulations
the legs got swollen where veins had been removed, sitch lines opened, profusedly
bled no imminent solutions.
Went back to hospital, secured readmission, there was huge blood loss
searched for blood donors, two selected from six willing,
blood bank donor made all the fuss.
This time remained inpatient for eight days, potassium creatinine controlled,
the doctor was gracious to discharge me forthwith, improvement made being extolled
Convalescing at home now wounds on legs are healing
may take three four weeks with alternate day dressing the doctor concerned is telling.
Thanks God the main wound on chest is healed up no complications exhibiting
the auxiliary gave so much pains probably due to diabetes aggravating.
This harrowing experience undergoing I am, praying Almighty for early relief
He is kind, will not be blind towards my sufferings, this is my profound belief.
