GOALS AND MEANS

I, perhaps we, get confused,
About these two words, at times we also get bemused.
We interpret means as methods and materials required for achieving a goal,
At times means become sub goals, and so alluring become they, we forget our goal only later to condole.
Final goal, intermediate goal, societal goal,
For ultimate goal of life, have they any role?
Let us think ourselves, “What do we want?”
After a day, after a year and at the end of life, can you imagine where will we stand?
We are living with random change of plans from moment to moment,
Plan of life to meet the sub goals leading to ultimate goal, now are totally absent.
As one gets confused with goals and means,
Their concept and clarity should be taught and inculcated since teens.
Time, age and experience have the impact,
About them our ignorance and also apathy of society to guide is a fact.
Some aim at wealth to have peace in life,
For the same they toil and try till they are alive.
They don’t find time to try for peace,
They try to amass wealth by any means.
A house, then a car, then limitless wealth in bank accumulated,
Desire piles up and greed forces them to remain ever uncontented.
Behind power and laurel, people run after,
At times those come in traces and soon disappear.
They cannot retain the glory,
And get shattered when these become history.
Knowledge acquired in schools and colleges,
Measured, compared and used in the units of material wealth you are going to possess.
If this is the true story of life,
Many means are available, to try and thrive.
They don’t require so much burning of midnight oil,
To mug up algorithm, and attend classes and examination, why should they toil?
While searching in the net for the anatomy of the apex of a banyan tree,
If goal is forgotten, after hours of browsing a live fun you are likely to see,
Sub goals and final goals are to be set,
Ethics, logics and time you have to connect.
With this life may look monotonous and boring,
But in long run pleasure and fun will come pouring.
With practice and lessons the plan will be interesting,
You will get happiness, peace and bliss as a human being.
