GREED IN NEED
P K ROUTRAY
Edited by P. Gaan
“The earth has everything for man’s need but not for his greed” thus goes the saying,
Due to the crime committed to environment and ecology by man’s greed, the mother earth is crying.
Man has greed so also has the animal
Man’s greed ever rises but animal’s remains small.
Animal’s greed exists for food of its own,
But man’s greed, slave to his wild senses, cares for none.
Man’s lust, attachment, vanity and jealousy rule over him and sow the seed,
For his wayward and unbridled senses to generate the greed.
Man is superior to animal because of his memory and intellect,
But performs inferior to them because of these attributes’ demonic effect.
The six deadly enemies of man make man a devil among creatures.
With pleasure and pride he digs his own grave and grave for others
The ecology and environment are beautiful in God’s creation
They are made for every creature to live in unison
The green tree, the running deer and the beauty of peacock need no narration
But man out of greed for self, dreams and aims at their annihilation.
With no oxygen, no water and high temperature, can man exist ever?
No science, no wealth and no power can come to has rescue, it is sure.
Man has emotional need besides his physical need
If not, properly tamed and tempered, they create havoc in raising man’s greed.
Coexistence with nature helps him for soothing his emotion,
Controlling his senses and moderation his physical passion.
For sensual pleasure animal has the season and reason after all,
Man ignores them and has his own action and reaction defying rules natural.
Quite comfortably a man lives in harmony with nature in forest,
But we consider him uncivilized, illiterate and treat him as the lowliest.
Hey man, the best among His creations! Learn from that forest dweller if not from that animal,
Control your greed and senses avoid destruction of nature if you want to exist on earth at all.
