Incomplete Assistance
P K Routray
An orphan child lying alone
with legs multiply broken
in a pool of blood
amidst dirt and mud
noticed by a passerby.
Moved by the child’s pathos and cry
admitted him, he under nursing care
paying off the full treatment fare.
Time as usual passed on
the face of the child by him was forgotten.
Once this man was passing by a jail
from back ground he heard a wail
looking back he saw a young man
with a smile of gratitude to him he ran
and coming near bowed him in reverence
reminding him of the past incidence.
To the natural query of the man as to his career
the young man sighed and brust out with tear
revealing that he resorts to an heinous profession
to earn his livelihood and to avoid starvation.
“ Sir I am grateful to you for my life and feet,
you enabled me to live and walk on the street
but I could get none to show me the right path
to walk in the street of life without social wrath.”
Parents help their child to learn how to toddle
but they also need the ways in life, with values how they can battle.
For orphan children, philanthropists come forward to fulfill their basic need
but it fails in its mission if they do not learn the ways in life, they have to lead.
