Indian Summer Rain
P K Routray
Hot and sweltry are days
to get relieved man prays
for rain to come and give relief
so also birds, animal and trees must be praying in grief.
Restless feels the man day and night
to take rest and sleep he has to fight,
the rich stays within artificial climate
at the expense of poor and desperate.
Comes rain with lightening and thunders
breaking the dark cloud with ice cubes showers
Remember I my childhood days in rain
getting drenched, sucking the ice with mummy’s cry in vain.
Infants and babies hide within mother’s arm
The frightening sound of thunder may do some harm
The youth dances in the rain staying away from their parents
to avoid their wrath when suffering from cold they lament.
The old looks with sigh at the dark sky with sparks of lightening
with sound of thunder, to their younger days they travel dreaming.
The dance of peacock in the forest and the trees quenching their thirst
the respite for all from hot humid summer glorify His live art.
