Today

for our batch a special day

keep all engagements at bay

in drinks dinner, we will sway

cutting cake in grand kid’s way

sing, dance, jump and play

pushing our D day farther away

wishing many happy returns of the day

to both Lala and Mahendra on their birthday.

Seizing this opportunity and adding spice I say

on our closeness to awe-strike our spouses to fray

that on their hubbies certainly know less they.

Their frenzies, fancies of the golden day

known in titbits to friends during five years’ stay.

Natural, tender pure with spirits gay

change with marriage being then better halves’ prey.

Lala, Mahendra both were born on this day

befriended us since Nineteen sixty-five July first day

blessed us they by charisma on their own way.

Lala being unique breed rare and stray

champion at stage, screen and field play

in all crafts that professionals fear to vie.

With many hidden obstacles on his way

in our agony and need Lala paves in without delay.

Our assemblies are canceled if he is away

in his company, we forget that our hair is already grey.

He has kept us spell bound by his talent from teens to this day.

Mahendra made a name to his friends’ prid in the USA

that our batchmate could compete, succeed and stay.

Grateful we are to Mahendra's love unconditional; on display

staying at the opposit side of the globe in his heart we always stay

Visiting us at regular intervals individual family visits he tries to pay

promised he, he will pack up from usa and with us, he will stay.

Madam Shanti and madam Kabita to our request never tell “Nay”

Hug your hobby till his cry and for the celebration you pay.

Jewels of friends the Lord adorned our batch on the same day

We are grateful to Him. Thus let us in chorus loudly say.

Also for Lala, Mahendra’s peace, bliss, prosperity in every way

to the Lord, we with our spouses wholeheartedly pray.

(N B  Lala and Mahendra two of our engineering batch mates were born today. We are all around seventy years retired. We  cherish on their birthday our five years stay together wef 1965 to 1970 while crossing teens reaching twenties

Shanti is a spouse of Lalatendu and Kabita is the spouse of Mahendra Mishra.

“We” means Lala and Mahendra’s two hundred friends stall jumping and kicking.)
