Mental Barrier
P K Routray
A mighty elephant is compelled to do menial labor,
To serve human need and greed he is trained to get bound for ever.
The elephant can refuse to yield to man’s dictate,
But man cleverly infuses the habit and barrier into it, so that it cannot deviate
A child elephant caught and kept one leg chained mercilessly to a pillar,
The elephant cries and tries but fails and succumbs to man’s desire.
Its mental barrier gets built into its system,
Throughout its life it forgets its true strength and obeys man’s wisdom.
Similarly man’s mind is blocked by many a dogma to realize his potentiality,
Like elephant he becomes a slave to his own built in habit.
