A Modified Metaphor
P K Routray
A well known picture
with three monkeys in three postures
with its hands one closing its eyes
signifying nothing bad to see it tries,
one closing its mouth and the other the ears
one not to speak foul words and nothing bad the other hears.
But a step ahead gives me further logic to take a philosophical stroll.
Considering the hand on a steering signifies the man’s power of control
and shutting down eyes, ears and mouth in the struggle for existence man will perish
but these organs can be used with restrain and control by man to flourish,
Man is not monkey and is supposed to have better control
hence the picture with monkeys gets modified for us with man in monkeys’ role,
conclude thus I modifying metaphor on the picture earlier.
See good and beauty on the earth, ugly and nasty you filter.
Listen the truth, the virtue ignoring the foul and the filthy.
Speak less but sweet, soothing and truth with honesty.
Using all the senses in controlled, restrained and positive way
sure you are to reach your spirituals goal , thus three monkeys now say.
