P K Routray
The origin and evolution of human race
have the rock and the mountain as its base
that aided the man to survive and to shine
and tamed the rest in creation to fall in its line.
The caves on the mountain provided the man the protection.
From stone the man created fire and light by ignition.
On the face of a rock man drew figures for communication.
Later to art and literature it was a stepping stone and initiation.
Owing to the stone the human civilization thrived on
hence the forms of stones was made an index of human classification.
Thus many a religion has prophetic pronounciation
to worship the rocks varying in size, shapes and complexion.
In India the capital city of the state of Odisha is Bhubaneswar
which rose on a mountainous range which witnessed he Asok’s cruel war.
A piece of stone at one of its hill tops is being worshipped since ages
inside a forest with wild animals around, by the people of surrounding villages.
From the mouth of the priest and the people thus goes the narration
On the rock the His figure the Almighty had once drawn.
that is supreme mother Sikharchandi under cloth and vermillion
who is guarding the ecology from its destruction.
Located was the stone once on the picturesque mountain peak
surrounded by unassaible road and forest thuick
Over the time and smartness of man motorable road and temple were made
The Goddess was easily approached by needy man but forest around did fade.
To live for some more time countering the poison, taken in
a group with this author climb it up daily with determination within
under the dwindling darkness of forestry road zigzagging to the peak
incarnating the deity within us and to her in prayer many things we speak.
