Need versus Greed
(Food)
A handful of rice or a slice of bread
starving for days or I shall be dead.
I do not need sugar nor do I need butter
hunger is painful bear I can no longer.
Carbohydrate, fat protein vitamin nor mineral
all round growth, longevity, immunity to me are immaterial.
Nor chocolate, not ice cream or not alone chicken burger
I want to bite all, keep everything together
I shall over eat, pick, choose or throw as per my pleasure.
My leftover if at all, may be thrown or preserved I do not bother
Give me some more appetizer I do not have hunger.
Doctor tells I shall be diabetic, prone to heart attack and kidney diseases to suffer,
Super specialists are available, to pay them, money does not matter.
I enjoy food both by its masticating taste and visual sight
I can go miles for restaurants serving food to my delight.
Excess of fat, carbohydrate vitamin and mineral make me sick
physicians are paid to look after, I do not have to sweat by braking a single brick.
The earth has everything to satisfy the bare need of creatures on it
But the balance is disturbed by the greedy man’s greed, we must admit.
To distinguish the greed from the need human wisdom fails to find the fine liner
Hence let us ignore all except the bare needs of food, cloth and shelter.
Eating more than need is not birth right of persons having sheer power of wealth,
As wealth cannot be eaten as a substitute to food supplied by our mother earth.
