Never Lament
P K Routray
On a stormy, rainy day
a man was on his way
through a dense forest and hilly track
to reach his native village before it is very dark.
On his way there was a swelling river
through its bridge he had to cross over.
The bridge was found dilapidated to his dismay
swinging precariously and on the verge of being swept away.
As he knew the forest had tigers and bears
he was sure at their claws his end was near.
He prayed the Almighty for help with intense devotion
to save him and help him to tide over this situation.
In a flash of a lightening to his awe and amazement
he saw the God on the other side of the embankment.
He pleaded loudly asking the God to come near
to help him and carry him to cross over the river.
But he saw the God sitting unmoved at the other end
without heeding to his request for help to extend.
He was frustrated at the God’s stone heartedness
with displeasure at Him he forgot his nervousness.
Putting his best effort the man managed to cross over
reaching the other side he saw to his awe and horror
that the end of the bridge was about to fall on the river
but the God had held it with certainly for him to cross over.
With gratitude the man knelt down with prayer for pardon
as to a mortal man “ What is the best for him” is never known.
Only the Almighty knows what is best for a man at any moment
Hence accept with humility whatever He showers upon you and never lament..
