An ode after the cyclone
P K Routray
Human courage was shattered,
human confidence was battered,
humiliated was human wisdom
proved thus, the Phailin’s venom.
Science could only prove its worth
forecasting Phailin’s intensity and birth
nothing further it could address and do
man is helpless at the hands of nature, proved so true.
Innocent trees in the forest, village and town
were baptized by Phailin, to frighten and frown.
Symbolized they, Phailin in media and photo picture
for world to ascertain Phailin’s intensity and catastrophic torture.
Damage did they to roads and disrupted communication,
break they did the houses and uprooted electric poles in million.
Zillion of trees were broken and uprooted damaging one another
through many zoos and forests existing in the Phailein’s massacred corridor
but kill they did not a single bird, a single animal and also reptile none
as if even under fury and pressure they did not forget their noble mission
as noted by the author and his friends from direct observation
based also on media, television and published communication.
Through this observation which may be proved true or false on review,
the live feelings during the rampage of Phailin, the naïve author intends to bring to you.
Sandy had come and gone, Catherine had come and gone, Phailin has come and gone
battles back the man to get their need and comfort on war footing with focused attention
but the trees of years giving life and shelter are left scattered to get rotten
the surviving few shedding tears for their companions of ages will perhaps live alone.
No media no reporter takes pity to tell the woes of other living beings
as if the Phailin is sent and intensified only for human beings.
(N.B This is the thought of this author who witnessed the ravages of Phailin at Odisha)
