Our Souvenir
Our Batch souvenir
to us, at this age serving as an elixir
a parting gift of our Alma-Mater
to her 70 batch alumni, her to remember
exhibit us in black and white
that time hardly could bite
though it bit us to wrinkled old
but the souvenir could proudly hold
our youth at its vivacious crest
with friends and friendship the best.
Flaunt it we to our grandkids
at the gap in grace bulge their eyelids.
Gaze I often with rapt attention
recapturing our sweet association
with each and every friend turn by turn
at any cost dreaming it to return,
But alas! The time is the robber
Braved its scythe, our souvenir.
Wish I, would it have all friends
admitted with us but left us at some bends.
Faces some float hazily some boldly
Hey friends! Our hearts search you mournfully
Pada Jena Nilakantha where are you?
at this dusk of life with others, we need you too.
Battered in the earthly battle
now to stand straight bones rattle
We need badly real friends support
with the same wavelength to escort.
Lavishly carelessly squandered we
the sweetness of friendship at sea
-the sea of turbulence of earthly burden
so fast the life will flee realized none.
When the time left is meagre
to hold on to it our heart has turned miser.
With tears we repent for the days gone
now we try to hold tight little left alone
the nectar-like friends and friendship
to jump, bump, sway swing and gossip
stretching the joy of living as a man mortal
glancing at us in the souvenir singing the songs immortal.
