“The praying hands “is Albrecht’s master piece creation,
the artist’s feeling and gratitude do exist live in it, touching our heart and emotion.
Albrecht Dure dedicated this art to Albert his brother,
Who toiled long four years in underground mines under physical torture,
so that his brother Alberecht’s dream come true
forgetting that he had a similar dream to fulfill too.
The background story ie a real tale of fifteenth century,
A goldsmith Durer had eighteen children to feed and worry.
Two of his sons Albertchet the elder and Albert the younger,
dreamt to be artists,
they made plans how to achieve it in spite of family wants and thrusts.
They decided one would read and other would support,
after completion of one’s study, for other brother the same, they would resort.
On toss of a coin Albertecht went first for study and achieved success,
on return he offered Albert to proceed to repeat the agreed process.
Albert toiled in spite of his physical injury to contribute to get Alberecht’s dream realized,
with inhuman works for long four years in undergrounds mines, vanished his own dream once so much prized.
Albert with difficult menial work supported his brother
all the four years.
he had fingers broken lost strength and zeal to pursue the study further.
He denied brother’s offer with a humble “ No:
“The praying hand” in honor of him sings his sacrifice, mesmerizing us to bow.
“ The praying hand” also sends a message that nobody can make it alone,
Many others’ hard works, sacrifices and prayers have to be behind the success which are not their own.
