At Salasar, with Lord

 

Hey! Lord Hanuman

to you, all, we run

with your chalisha in lip

when, us, miseries grip

as done in faith, over ages

by mundane men to sages.

Chanting your holy hymn

across a life, men dare swim

braving the threats, many

some designed by destiny

some shaped by the self of a being

and some that outsiders bring.

Pursuing the pursuits four

to make life worth living for

and for strength to endure,

wisdom, intellect to ensure

the win over sufferings five

sothat men righteously live,

your grace, seeks every being

praying with faith unflinching.

Your Chalisa as a divine chant

to a man your benign grant

through  devotee Tulasidas

to have your mercy miraculous.

Chanting it again and again

lames can cross mountain

nonstop can chatter a mute

you are a part of Lord with the flute.

 

Your heart, you tore

to show us from core

how to arrest the lord

with the devotional cord.

Your glories in galore

touched our tender hearts’ core

and to you, christened us

deeply so our friend Kailash

since our childhood days

for you, his devotional craze

knew no bounds of age tender

worshipping you like men elder

with deeds of purifying austerity

at him, our taunts had effect scanty.

Kailash, our friend unique

whom our hearts ever seek

to get solace from his smile

sweet simple devoid of guile

His words streaming as nectar

used to turn our agonies to laughter,

our griefs and worries many

with him, fade and turn funny

“Have faith in Lord Hanuman

endure whatever may happen.

with unwavering devotion

be at bliss, His is your burden”

Constitute a life, phases four

that the scriptures vouch for

Celibacy as a learning student

follows it, family management

third phase is life of retirement

renunciation, as phase subsequent

All that Kailas did with success

nowhere did he ever digress.

As a student he proved brilliant

as a family man he was prudent

leaving behind an enviable family tree

to sing his glory in his clan’s history

Renouncing every attachment

despite opposition vehement.

he went to Brindaban with his devout wife

to mediyaye for the lasdst phase of his life.

Among all holy places, preferred he Brindaban

intending there complete isolation.

With austerity life at Brindaban

on Lord complete contemplation

with spouse Krishna by his side

he made sure his heavenward ride.

 

Kailash parted for Brindaban

leaving us in a pang of separation

with faith in spiritual logic.

Lost we his charismatic magic

but on our intent inner call

he returned to be among we all

celebrating marriage jubilee, golden

returning with us to those days of fun

But Alas short-lived our association

Time is too cruel to prevail upon.

Hey Lord Hanuman!

why is such a punishing action

for us a bane,. To him, is it a boon

to merge with you on liberation soon

parting on the spot his spouse and son

with descendants of his second generation

that man penances for births million

to be one with you on such an occassion?

Hey Lord Hanuman

you were his ambition.

at the end to be there with you

and to show the you and Lordtoo

living as one absolute Brahma alone

occupying his heart, the throne.

 

At salasar your statue

feel we, your presence true.

Rush there the devotees in millions

for your most sacred staue, best known

Being immortal and devotee bound

you must be at Salasar and around.

Kailash with his divinized visionary sight

located you there as his divine right

cleaning, on him, any filth cover

taking Kumbha dip at Haradwar

and at Deosar offering his last prayer

to the Goddess, the clan deity on her Altar

to bless his departing plan for liberation

being among his spouse, grandson, and son

travelled to you at Salasar

to offer his last mortal prayer on your altar

before leaving his mortal remains

snatching forever all his earthly chains

indeed Hey Lord you love your devotee true

you took Kailas forever at Salasar to be with you.

 

Hey Goddess Deosar mata, the mother divine

we friends see Kaoilash last in your shrine

perhaps taking your permission to depart

to be among you to play his divine part

Mother, you must see Him as your own

and bless him to be at bliss with Lord Hanuman.

 

Hey Kailash! Proud parting indeed

our tears to our pride for you, we concede

as at Salasar a visit to the statue of lord

dispensing your presence none can afford

even if a plaque will not be there to announce

but Lord Himself will in His ways pronounce

“ Here is a mortal devotee immortalized in me.

Frim pangs of birth and death now he is free.”

For our Kailash whom we have hugged often

talked, played with and joked at in person

has ornamented the Lord aat Salasar

and now is beyond our mortal reach forever.

N. B (My classmate since school days and my boyhood friend died at Salasar after visiting Lord Hanuman while in sleep. Prior to the visit He had his holy bathe in Kumbha mela at Hardwar and he visited his deity Deosar Mata who is their family deity for ages. His ancestors have shifted to Angul from Deosar since generations but Deosar mata remains as their family deity.

Kailash indeed an practical result of practicing  the first two dohas of Hanuman chalisha by Tulasi
