Season of separation
P K Routray
In the days of yore
separation did occur.
When monsoon sets in,
floods in rivers begin,
lands get separated,
communication gets disrupted,
both vocal and physical incorporated,
lovers so often cannot be united,
at their sweet will
as and when they feel.
To this they with the poets reacted in past,
all love poems with songs of separation did then start,
conveying the feelings of their emotion,
poets scripting the pangs of love out of proportion,
these poetic messages were sent through cloud, peacocks and pigeons,
across swelling seas and flooded rivers to their hearts’ icons.
Hence the monsoon was called the season of separation.
Now those days have gone,
The age is the age of SMS through mobile phone,
to the pathos of separation, rain and monsoon have no contribution.
But with nature at its best, with fresh lease of life like many creatures love in hearts gets fresh illumination,
Hence let us change such allegation and our poetic conception.
