A Tale in delirium
P K Routray
Rabi! Indeed you were a jewel rare
stocky,short height complexioned fair
endowed with strength and stamina in immense measure
with never harassing, ever cool and calm composure.
Rabi! My inner soul rebels to spell out
the shop floor hazards and your bout
tolerated at a young age but erupted after sixty
through many an ailment in the medical kitty.
Braving all the wraths you did your duty
it was your seer love to the Almighty.
Being the son-in-law of a kingmaker
you remained dwarf as our Rabi friend dear.
with spouse Bijay Laxmi a gem of human treasures
Leezu,Leesu, Deepu your three loving daughters
grandkids adding to your retired life pleasure
orphaned them you all at the tragic departure.
No divine boon can mend their agonies and torture.
Your family joy spoke of your all-around success
Your concern for classmates non can assess..
Remember we on your rooftop lessons
imparted by our dear friend Ashok with his sermons.
you in robe for your prayers I love much
then in you I used to see a Rabi with a divine touch
preparing to go to a monastery for enlightenment
whereas you used to go to the pot line for your commitment.
Your piety, wisdom and love for the creator.
made you a pet disciple to a Jagadguru a Mater
For your success as a technocrat par excellence
youas a manager handling with brilliance,
allround exhibitions of divinity in a mortal frame
we, your classmates, colleagues applaud and acclaim
while bidding you a farewell from amongst us
pray the Lord the best for you and on you His focus.
Since Nineteen Hundred sixty five
with two hundred fifty friends we came to live
at our Alma-mter to shape our career
after a short gap, at Nalco we worked together.
On superannuation we settled at Bhubameswar
with other classmates the bondage deepened further
You were a special to all of us
with your Madam scriptural songs melodious
our close knit seventy rengcplian oft family get-together
used to bring the taste in old age to cheer..
All appear now as a passed dream without you
with sighs and tears we are forced to bid you adieu.
All of your classmates from their hearts’ core
express our gratitude for a friend in you we adore.
While bidding a good bye to your mortal journey
our souls cherish for your soul’s company..
