Tears on the GJ day

 

 

Dreamt we sweet,

never smelt a defeat

together at our Alma-mater

to be the world-beater,

stay bonded as teenagers

upholding it against burrs

Alas! on the way

to this G J day

the destiny’s cruel play

robbed us of the joy

of getting the feel of your sigh

after long half a century

churning our longing memory

your hugs, your smiles, your bites

your funs, friendship and fights,

the back post and the check post

the thrill of intimacy that we boast.

Hey friends! Out of us thirty-five of you

in frames revealing that you never grew

In you we ourselves proudly display,

vivacious youth, handsome and gay.

Besieged with frowns of realities

time for us we could not squeeze

when you fell leaving your dears shattered.

Now at this parting age, we have gathered

to share our pangs and pain and plan the voyage

and search you to propel our spirits at this age

with your jokes, chats and grapevines

on the past heroines and your queens

but no, you are not there to share

Up to Heaven only now we only stare.

each of you is a pearl as a pal

none in life could vie to be your equal.

mock at us.” Do not us, you remember

you only know our everything outer or inner.”

Yes! If hearts can paint, emotions can craft

Billions of yours, moods and postures we can art.

upon each of you, to dwell

cherishing memories to tell, many lives we have to sail.

We have lived our lives and ends are drawing nigh

together we are gathering on the G J day

at our Alma-Mater, to pay her our gratitude

with our spouses but our spirits will get subdued.

Must I end here or else I will break of heartache

and deranged, I will turn with mental faculties’ break.

On this GJ day, for you, heartfelt, we pray

for peace, bliss and His blessings for Heavenly joy.

 N.B -= We have graduated from ERC Rourkela(Now NIT) in1970. and are going to celebrate our Golden Jubilee on 25^th and 26^th January at our Alma-mater. We were 250 at the time of admission in 1965.Since graduation we have lost thirty-five of our classmates. This is a humble tribute to those dear souls.) _
