The Supreme Attorney
P K Routray
In Australian’s Christmas island
millions of red crabs living on land
leave their burrows located at its central part
to get their motherhood realized, journey they start
an usual annual phenomena occurring in November or December
as they only can lay eggs and breed at the island’s sea shore.
Climb, descend and maneuver
cliff, banks, obstacles on the way come whatever
to reach the shoreline while the crimson is the color of the river
to lay their eggs in mass to bring their offspring together.
Then with high tide, raining weather and with the arrival of the waning moon,
towing their off spring to the central part of the plateau they return soon.
The joy of motherhood pales their pain of this herculean task and arduous journey.
Logic behind such picturesque breeding is known only to the supreme Attorney.
