Woes to happiness
P K Routray
Amidst fear, confusion and grief
madly, the man searches for relief
in his run for materialistic happiness
yielding results, frustrating and fruitless.
Lacks the man the wisdom to discriminate
three modes of happiness that men create.
Happiness with a mode of ignorance
attempted at, keeping piety in abeyance
by falsehood, greed, and deeds of selfish nature
with traits belonging to the demoniac character
Happiness through the mode of passions
rendering happiness as illusory illusions
with personal liking and disliking and self-vanity
ignoring truth justice and the deeds with divinity
Happiness earned by mode of goodness
last permanent and from within springs joy endless
with service to the Lord and His creation
the selfish end, greed, and self-vanity were forgotten.
The happiness that is earned by the mode of goodness
is the real wisdom to enlighten man wandering in the wildness
