The curls of the’s’ and the 'e' tell me that you had a steady but hasty hand
A list of summer holiday destinations,
A to-do of unfinished commitments,
Page after page filled with words
Nesting grounds of memories
and ...
But that's enough!
Quickly! Before it’s too late
and the words wriggle out of the cocoon of the page,
I throw your pages into the drawer
and hastily turn the key with a firm shake.
For memories are dangerous insects
if they hatch.
I sigh and relax as I hear
In the drawer, the words give up
their struggle
to get off the page.
But wait!
Haven't i failed?
for I take a fresh page
to start putting into words,
Broken dreams drawn awake.
