Jumper

It is too far to see the expression on his face but I can see by his body language that he is tortured and about to jump.
The block is in an up and coming neighbourhood and all the apartments have balconies, but people aren't meant to live higher than a couple of floors and, living up there all the time, I can understand his unnatural urge to want to fly.
"Don't do it," I shout, "let fate give you wings, suicide is ugly."
I know he can't hear me, and it doesn't matter what I say, but I've always been a romantic at heart, and perhaps if he sees me waving, he might see past the empty sky and into the future and maybe see us together and making love.
I step back and wave my arms and frantically shout, "You don't know what you're missing," and I feel the rush of air as the bus hits me.
