Ribbons are everywhere.

Ribbons in a loop support charity, and ribbons fly high for pride of belief

Ribbons leaden with gold hang around necks

Handfasting - ribbons bind couples to stay together

Yet somehow often it is brief  

Ribbons show our allegiance

For the enemy not to trust

Others mark trees in the way of buildings 

Destined to be crushed

A ribbon is cut opening a grand place

Eager hands destroy the ribbon on a gift

Ribbons are tied around academic achievements 

Which unfurl none too swift

Ribbons are everywhere

With many symbolising hope

Yet for some they focus on only ribbons unravelled

They see their ribbon too similar to a rope
