Azure eyes
just one color
of the rainbow
over a wrinkled
nose,
brown and worn-out
as an ugly
raisin in the sun.
With two
cheekbones big
enough to bridge
over this face
and the next,
even over the
ol' Miss. river,
with those azure
eyes like
spotlights
spreading over
the murky depths
of secrets below,
and supported
by pillars of
hopes and dreams,
and lips kept
moist by the
soft licks of
exhaust from
vehicles,
dripping into
steady rivers
down to the
pointy chin,
tickled by little
fish that bite,
giggle, and
run away.
Broken dreams
and loves
that spatter
and break
into shards
big enough
to float
and smack into
eyes, so azure,
and stab their
gentle retinas
and make the
rain tear up
and fall, as
the lips
cough up their
clear, crystallized
blood, all over
the ol' Miss. river.
