Introducer: "Hmm..yez..that waz nice, Mr. Zuzt. You're...getting
better. But, onward, I muzt zay, onward! Our next pre-zenter iz alzo a
newbie. He will only give hiz name az "Nothing". So, pleaze, welcome
"Nothing". Let uz hope he will entertain uz well."
(Nothing gracefully picks his way through the tables set close
together, and gets up on stage. His age is unknown, but he looks young.
He's pale, thin, and wears a simple t-shirt and jeans. His nails are
painted dark red, and he has 2 rings on his right hand. He smiles
softly.)
"Welcome to my
poetry reading.
I don't care if you
like my poetry
or not,
because I do.
I'm happy with it,
I enjoy writing it.
It's a part of
me,
I live, breathe, and
eat
my poetry.
All that I ask of you,
is for you to forget
you're here,
in this very room.
Just...find a safe haven,
think of it,
stick yourself in it,
and don't come out until
I'm done reading.
Now listen my children
and you shall hear.
'Forget Me Now'
By Nothing
I am tired and restlesss
I can not sleep.
I try to count all the masochistic sheep
but I always stop at seven
I am tired of your attention
you think I'm a daydream
well I'm not at all what I seem
I want to get away from your admiration
I want to get away from your daydream nation
I've tried to commit suicide
but even death wants me alive
or does it want me in the crucial bee hive?
I can't get through this life
I cant get through this pain and strife
where is my angel?
am I going to float above?
or sink below?
one thing I know is my soul has got to go.
so forgive me for what I am gonna do
I don't want any pain transferred to you
forget me now
don't ask how
just forget me now..."

The Audience Reaction
8/10
They were quiet for a moment. New and old audience members were shocked
at being talked to in such a way. But Nothing got his applause anyway.
Enough to say that the audience liked his work.
He stuffed his poem into a backpack he had brought with him, and walked
out.
