Dragon Slayer

Once upon a time a young girl
ok perhaps not so young
was told she was mentally ill.

The shock, the horror, how would she cope
how would others treat her now
the same perhaps, or differently
only time would tell.

More importantly how would she see herself
among the confusion in her mind.

The story is still to be written
so far she has fought a few demons,
dragons with dripping fangs
ready to taste her blood.

Sometimes she bows her head
ready to admit defeat
to give in to the rages that ravage her mind
but looking aloft on seeing a glimmer of hope
she picks up her sword ready to fight
and slay another dragon
waiting in the depths of her mind.
