The Star

There was a young man who had nothing to do
And for most of the day he would sit on the loo
He would read the newspaper
And read his stars
And in one of them it said
He would be flying to mars
Someday s later he sold his two cars
His bar in Spain
His faithful Great Dane
The very next day he went on his way
With paper in hand
He made no delay
He rehearsed as he went as to what he would say
To all of the people he would meet in that day
“You never guess what…I’m in for a treat
I’ve sold everything, I’ll be going next week.”
‘Where will you be going? You’re going next week!!’
“I’m going to Mars…I’m going to Mars…
I’ve sold everything it says in my stars.”
Well! Most people just smiled
And some raised a grin
But do you know what was most alarming
He said nowt to his wife
No did’nt say a thing
So please if you can
Don’t humour him
Now there’s a darling..
He’s just not tuned in!!
The best thing to do is totally ignore him
And what of his wife
What of her you may ask
He told her eventually
But boy what a task
So now she keeps him amused by buying him flasks.
And setting him all sorts of various tasks
Like dusting and cleaning
And running her bath
And cutting the lawn
And sweeping the path
So the next time someone asks you,
“have you read your stars?”
Remember the man who was going to mars.
Remember his wife
And remember this clause
“You heard it here first its all in the stars.”
